The Secret to Relaxation For Anxiety Sufferers

The secret to ridding yourself of Anxiety lies in the root of where your anxiety comes from. You might not know this but Anxiety attacks actually start hours before you feel the effects. It starts with the littlest thought, the subtlest fear in the back of your mind, and then begins to build like a snowball rolling down a hill. Knowing this is important because it gives us a clue into how to stop the snowball from ever forming.
Often we do not give the mind enough credit and that is ultimately the reason that anxiety inflicts so many people today. We tend to shrug off the mind as merely a tool to get our work done but never consider how complicated and intricate it really is. Imagination, memories, dreams, preconceptions of the future, your idea of who you are, your judgments of others; all of these things exist within your mind and they are constantly there. Usually we do our best to simply ignore this whirlwind through things like Television, radio, and so on but this avoidance is the reason that the snowball keeps building until it finally comes crashing down on us. Relaxation for Anxiety requires us to be aware of our mind, to watch it, and to understand it.
The secret to relaxation for anxiety sufferers is really very simple. Stop doing the thing that is creating your anxiety. The problem is not what is going on in your life (whether it is a difficult time or not), the problem is how much you are thinking about what is going on in your life. Over-analyzing your own thoughts, what you think others might be thinking, what might happen tomorrow, what happened yesterday or last year, or anything other than the present moment you are in is the absolute cause of your anxiety. Unfortunately when we start thinking of all the things that "might go wrong" we start to believe that we can think our way out of them. You cannot, you are making the problem worse.
Thinking can be an addiction because it leads you to believe that if you think about something enough you will eventually deal with it. This is not true, you are either doing something or thinking about doing something and ultimately the doing is the only thing that will lessen your worry. This isn't a simple solution but it is the one that works.
Relaxation for anxiety sufferers is very simple, stop thinking and continuously remind yourself that what you think is happening is completely different from what is actually happening. The real experience is in the moment, your mind will always try to get more attention than it needs.
