Living With Social Phobia

People who have never suffered from social anxiety can't possibly grasp how emotionally painful it can be. I suffered from social phobia for many years a without having a clue what it was. I had horrible fears of talking to people every time I left my home, and many times I would get physically sick just by thinking of interacting with people.
I was so fearful of going to school because I would have to talk to people, and many times I would pretend to be sick just so I wouldn't have to go, as a cause I would miss about fifty days of school over the year. This social phobia can keep you from doing even the simplest things in life like going to the grocery store, church, library and my worst one of all the doctor's office.

Usually I would get this raw feeling in my stomach and that would evolve to a full blown anxiety attract as soon as I had to talk to people. Some of the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life is go to an anxiety support group, I was so anxious around people I even started to feel panic when I was around my loved ones, I though that they would think I'm weird. The good news is that there are many ways to take control of you social anxiety.
Many of them are not guaranteed to work in the first try but if you stick to it you can take control. If your anxiety is too overwhelming you might want to go to your doctor so that he can prescribe medication, this will be a great help to manage your feelings. The second thing you can do is go to a social phobia support group.
A support group can be very very helpful when recovering from this condition, because when you hang out with people that have the same thing as you do, you can be more motivated to keep on going with your therapy. Make sure to talk to your friends and family about your condition so that they can better understand what you are going through and together you can get over this.
